What does an alchemic approach to skin care really mean?

I am sure you have heard of the word "Alchemy" or "Alchemist" many times through out your life, but what does an "Alchemic Approach" to skin care really mean?

Ancient alchemic skincare was always made using knowledge of the following five areas of science: Botany, phytotherapy, astrology, cosmetics and medicine.

How does this work?

Astrology provides information about the right moment for the harvest, sowing and pruning of a plant, to maximize their full potential and medicinal effects within the skincare formulas. The rhythm of our planets and the Moon affects everything that lives on Earth, so an alchemic approach also looks into this closely to provide the most potent formulas that are good for the health and our environment, never using anything toxic. Alchemic Skincare helps with the recovery and healing of our skin, rather than just making it look good, it heals it from the inside out to look its best. Alchemy was rooted in a complex spiritual worldview in which everything around us contains a sort of universal spirit, and plants held a special place on Earth to heal us.

Poet's Garden Alchemist skincare is inseparable from the larger world of the Alchemic, particularly its philosophical underpinnings. Our alchemic skincare emphasizes the universal connectedness of all living and nonliving things. To maintain this harmony, we believe in looking at the body as a "whole", we also recommend a change of diet, exercise and personal relationships, encompassing preventive and curative practices including meditation, facials, massage and herbal/supplement therapy. We believe that our skin issues is a manifestation of inner health.

Our skin is our largest organ and what we apply on it is absorbed to a far greater extent than most of us realise. So skincare can also be a tool to balance one’s health and achieve healthy and beautiful skin specially combined with certain lifestyle changes that could be triggering the issues.

We believe that Alchemic Skincare is a science of LIFE & SPIRIT, it's an ancient holistic science that offers a profound body of knowledge for understanding ourselves within the laws of nature, helping us to achieve vitality, optimal wellness and ageless beauty.

What are three aspects of Alchemic Skincare:

  1. There are three forms of beauty that works with each other: external beauty including skin, hair, nails, posture, and fitness, inner beauty works with the mind, such as love and compassion &  unconscious beauty which addresses the deepest part of being, the very soul resting on the foundation of a healthy body and peaceful mind. The unconscious beauty is about reaching one’s fullest potential and finding life’s purpose. The Alchemic Approach believes that even though our world is composed of solid material, everything in the universe is actually energy and light.
  2. Humans are vibrational beings. Our entire body including our skin responds to touch, music, aroma, color, light and even emotion due to the impact on a vibrational level. Not only does our body respond to all vibrations around us, but the mind, body, and soul function together as a whole. This would mean that our entire being, including the skin, is impacted by lifestyle, including key elements such as diet, exercise, relaxation and our spiritual health and beliefs.
  3. The alchemic approach to skincare looks at what is going on superficially on the skin, but also search deeper for answers and clues as to what might be going on emotionally and even spiritually that could be triggering the issues within the skin. The alchemic approach includes dietary suggestions, mindfulness techniques, and a willingness to connect deeply, soul to soul, in order to truly heal the whole-self, including the skin.
