Mourning Dove
He lands like a whisper outside my window
I know of his message…. love, peace hope
So long ago now there was a pair released at a wedding
So long ago now you have been gone
I remember to think of you when I hear a certain song
I find myself humming it later in the day
In the shower, or while I feed the dog
It feels good to have your memory beside me
Now if only these tree limbs could sing
If only this Dove could whistle like you.
