The Importance of Vitamin C for your skin
Aside from all the benefits we all know about vitamin C topically, I think what really sets it apart from other products is its ability to rebuild your skin’s DNA at a cellular level. Vitamin C is known for its antioxidant benefits, its ability to increase collagen production, brightening properties while helping to treat UV exposure. It will also smooths skin tone, so it's a must on your daily skincare routine.
WHAT DOES IT REALLY DO FOR YOUR SKIN?
INCREASES COLLAGEN PRODUCTION:
Collagen is the most abundant form of protein in the body, and it's responsible for giving your skin that radiant glow and plumpness we all wish to have as we age. It also keeps skin elasticity in check, which prevents skin from sagging and also stretch marks. By the time you reach your late 20s, the amount of collagen in your body starts to decrease in a yearly basis and this is what causes lost of volume within our faces and skin sagging.
Clinical studies have shown that applying vitamin C to the skin daily increases collagen production by increasing fibroblast activity within our cells. Fibroblast is the most common cell that produces collagen, so it is a must having to stimulate it in order to have a youthful appearance.
REDUCES REDNESS, INFLAMMATION AND IMPROVES OVERALL SKIN TONE AND DISCOLORATION AROUND THE EYES:
Studies have shown that vitamin C can also help to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark under-eye circles. If you suffer from dark eye circles, skin redness, or hyperpigmentation of the skin, then a vitamin C serum can help you achieve a more uniform skin tone and better overall complexion. It will also help you if you suffer from redness or any inflammatory condition of the skin, including acne, as vitamin C also strengthens your skin and increases its resilience against environment aggressors and irritants.
VITAMIN C PROTECTS FROM SUN DAMAGE:
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant, so applying it daily to your skin has shown to protect your skin from damage against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. It also helps to neutralize free radicals already present in the body, while reducing the formation of new free radicals due to prolonged exposure to the sun. This helps preventing further sun damage and hyper-pigmentation. Of course, vitamin C should not be considered an alternative to wearing sunscreen, but when combined with your daily SPF, it can really work miracles for your skin.
HOW TO USE IT:
You can use Poet's Garden Apothecary "Radiant" Vitamin C Serum morning and night after washing your face and prior to using your moisturizer or just use it in the morning. Do you have any questions? Message me!
