Eating for Flawless Skin

I am sure you've wondered what to eat to have clear skin at least once in your life.

First of all, if you want clear skin, you need to look at your diet. This is the most important step for clear skin. Greasy fried foods are a definitely a "NO" when you are trying to clear your skin. Also sugar, dairy and a diet high in carbohydrates. These foods are great to trigger problematic skin and weight gain, so stick to a clean diet.

So what should I eat for a beautiful complexion?

Changing your diet is tough and it takes time to re-balance your hormones and to see a difference, but if you stick with a very clean diet, and don't give up on your efforts, your skin will eventually clear out.

The best diet for a flawless complexion is eating lots of vegetables with every meal and a green juice (no sugar added) every day. Make sure to eat many different colorful veggies as they are great for detoxing your body and skin.

If you eat meat, make sure to increase your white meat consumption (turkey, chicken, fish) and reduce red meat consumption and fried or deli meats that are full of nitrates and fat. Lower any sugary food, carbohydrates and alcohol to the very minimum.

If you are a vegan, make sure to reduce your carbohydrate consumption as most vegans tend to eat a diet high in carbs and grains. Increase your protein like tempeh or by having a vegan protein shake daily. Protein balances hormones! And carbohydrates do the opposite, they can create a mayor insulin/hormonal imbalance, specially when eating them in large doses daily. No sugar and no alcohol!



What else?

  • Drink 8-12 glasses of water every day and make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Reduce your stress levels which increase cortisol levels on your body that can cause acne, and make sure to stay active.
  • If you smoke, stop smoking! Not only it ruins your overall health and lungs, but it ages you 10+ years and causes terrible breakouts and wrinkles.
  • Workout 5 to 6 times per week. Why? Because working out helps to increase the circulation and oxygenation of your body and skin which in turn, will give you the best skin of your life! It helps detox your body from toxins that cause acne. Pick a workout you love, it can be walking for 30 minutes every day, or doing yoga, going swimming, it doesn't matter, stay active for a flawless complexion and a beautiful shapely body. Your skin will thank you.
